As an artist Andrew has been changing the face of house music for over a decade. His releases on some of house music most elite and diverse labels have sculpted a sound that clearly defines his frame of reference at the same time outlines a cadence to his eclectic taste in Chicago House Music.
Andrew started his urban musical career at the age of eleven. At this time Andrew was a formerly trained Concert Percussionist, obtaining a chair in the local Kansas City Symphony. This instruction lead to many group endeavors with various different bands and performances. Armed with an increasingly larger interest in more progressive music would lead Andrew down a different path in the early nineties. Influenced by Jazz, Rock, and Soul records he had heard he decided orchestral music was right now, not the way. Added was also the discovery of House Music in High School one night when he was walking past a Deli in Downtown Kansas City. Astounded by the sound and musical freedom it allowed this music changed his whole outlook on composition.

After bursting onto the scene in 2001, Darran Nugent has made quite a name for himself on the more sophisticated house circuit. With its blend of hypnotic beats and samples, his music has piqued the interest of a slew of labels including Toko, Brique Rouge, Stay True, Peng, Clear Blu, Ryzms, and Nusoul - an impressive list for such a short time period. In addition, Nugent's own label Elevation Recordings continues to grow with releases from David Duriez, Fish Go Deep, Richard Gow, and Yann Fontaine.

Not many DJs get their start playing midnight at a New Years Eve party the first time they get their hands on turntables, but for Jeff Bloom, this is exactly how it happened. I was embarrassed at how terrible I thought it was, but I got so many compliments after the set that I was encouraged and knew if I developed my skills, over time, I could eventually become pretty good.
Despite the geographical proximity, growing up in the suburbs of Chicago does not necessarily provide one a particularly large exposure to house music. But, after moving into the city at 19 Jeff was inevitably drawn into the underground house music scene.
“It seemed an inauspicious time to be getting into dance music, especially with the digital revolution and with the rave scene was dying down. But it gave me a chance to hone my DJ skills at home, as well as focus on production. The revolution did however become an auspicious time to be getting into production, as computers and home studios were starting to be able to create a professional sound at a fraction of the price.”
Jeff Bloom’s debut single “That Old Thing” (fourplaymusic WMC 2002 10’’ sampler) was a deep house joint that gave some insight into his musical aptitude. “I was really drawn to the performance side of music, and so that most of my early electronic beats including ‘That Old Thing’ were recorded as a live PA using all outboard gear” (Yamaha Rm1-x, and SU700 among others).

Chicago born and bred, the talented Daniell Spencer hasbeen a major contributor to the House Music phenomena forquite some time. Being cousins with Gene Hunt, a definiteoriginator and pioneer of house music, Daniell is proofthat the music DNA is an unwavered family talent. As a professionalDJ of 16+ years, his skills are hardly rivaled, which isevident by the magnitude of his overseas gigs. Places likeTokyo, Bangkok, Paris, London, etc….are difficultmarkets to break into, yet they’ve all embraced Daniell’sconsistent style of being a definate crowd pleaser.
Daniell bursted onto the underground music scene in 1990. Immediately, he began sharing the decks with global talents like Derrick Carter, Lilí Louis Vega, Farley ìJackmasterî Funk, and Lego! Sets consisting of the phattest beats, heaviest funk, lilting vocals and truly soulful disco dubs put Daniell head-and-shoulders above the rest. Soon after, Daniell was named the ì#1 Newcomer DJî in Chicago. To his credit, with successful dj residences at Stardust Nightclub, and at Club Tunnel - on the decks with Gene Farris, and Diz- Daniell made is mark on the Chicago underground scene!
His production style has proven to be just as dynamic with the onslaught of ìbig room bangersî that heís unleashed onto the House scene. Various well-respected labels such as Afterhours, Aquarius, Defender, Brique Rouge, Moody and Nepenta have been eager to add his music to their catologue.

For just under a decade Demarkus Lewis has released over 100 singles and remixes . He has kept true to his roots in the underground sound whether it be deep soulful house or the heaviest of techno/tech-house outings. Known for his ability to go deep while maintaining the energy to keep the dance floors moving, he has proven to be diverse artist.
It all began in the summer months of 1990 when he was first introduced to dance music. As Chicago is rich in music history, it's no surprise that it is the home base for this dynamic duo. Dan X and Richie Heller joined forced in 2001 to form Dirty Sole. Together they wrote the dancefloor smash "Skattered Jazz" for Classic Recordings (UK) which topped charts at number 5 in Muzik Magazine. Since then, they have recorded for Yousef's Carioca imprint (UK) in addition to Phil Week's Robsoul Recordings (FR). Dirty Sole is also no stranger to the live performance arena. They have headlined countless venues, including the largest outdoor music festival in America, Summerfest, where the opposing stage featured the legendary Ray Charles himself.
Currently, the duo has just produced their first full length album with singer/songwriter jOHNNYDANGEROUs. The album is titled "Dangerous Radio" and features the many shades of dance music including funk, disco and jazz and more. As opposing musical forces have collided, this trio has formed together to create a unique blend of genres, while incorporating a new fun twist on things. Dangerous Radio is forthcoming on Four Play Music and will be available world wide.

Dj Pap has been on the Chicago dance scene since the early eighties. Back in the late 70’s, he studied his brother William West spinning disco and funk for people at parties called SETS. With this knowledge, Pap merged those concepts and techniques he learned from observing the way his brother made people boogie on the dance floor and combine the 80’s underground music to come up with his own unique way of mixing the disco and 80’s dance like, Burnin’Up by Imagination and Just Like a Doorknob by Touche.
With his style of blending classics with the new, open doors in 1982 for Pap. He became an established Dj on the Southside of Chicago spinning countless underground parties and promoting his own dance night. This led him in the path of starting one of the longest south side underground function, ìBonnieís Basementî. It was a smaller version of the Music Box, which was the hottest club in Chicago to hear slamming music by legendary Dj Ron Hardy. Bonnieís Basement was a four-year run, with other Djís like Boo Williams, Glenn Underground and Jamile Patton. It was the place to go for the younger house heads that couldnít get in the clubs.
Other promoters recognized Papís underground delivery of mixing pure dance music and soulful vibes. By the end of the eighties his name was all over the city of Chicago. He played at the Future Shock with Mike Winston, the Warehouse with Diz and Jeff Sims.

In 1998, me my brother and a couple of friends got together and started a production company; Crowd Control. Under that moniker we hosted “City of Groove” the line up included: Mark Almaria, Dan Deliverence, Travis*T, PMS vs. Roman, Rob Dobber, Johnny Chavez, Stormy & Andrew Emil. It was famed as one of the premiere one-off events in Kansas City at the time. The venue could hold about 150 people max, we brought in around 500+ throughout the night. The walls were sweating. Crowd Control continued to grow in Chicago, but eventually changed its public face to four play music. Crowd Control/four play hosted events throughout the nation. From larger events in Portland, OR or Kansas City, KS, to events at the DEMF in Detroit or Winter Music Conference in Miami. Four play music has hosted numerous events in Chicago from record release parties, one off events as well as two weekly nights at local nightclubs.

Pushed by local kids in his South Side neighborhood of Chicago Gene Farris caught the DJ bug at the tender age of twelve. Inspired by the likes of Ron Hardy, Prince, and Roy Ayers Farris began blending a mixture of funk, disco, and soul combined with eighties' pop icons such as, Duran Duran. One may still hear hints of disco in his style.
Even in his early years Farris was constantly on the move. By making mix tapes for his neighborhood buddies and selling them at many famed Windy City record stores like Gramaphone, Farris's spinning skills quickly developed. Not only did Farris's style evolve, his reputation rapidly grew. After many late nights 'beatn' down neighborhood block parties, Farris earned his childhood dream slot warming up for legendary Ron Hardy and Ron Carrol at the epic AKA Club.

Grayarea was formed in 2001 by Chicago natives Nosmo, McRae and Ruin. Based on the success of their self-released debut single, the progressive-house anthem "One for the Road", they were signed to UK-based Hope Recordings. After gaining even more accolades for their first Hope release, a progressive breaks rework of "One For the Road," their follow-up single "Yewminyst," secured the group a spot on Nick Warren's critically acclaimed "Global Underground 24: Reykjavik" compilation. These releases coupled with a handful of highly charted remixes have earned Grayarea spots in the record boxes of the most eclectic mix of the world's biggest DJ's.
Being classically trained musicians, the Grayarea boys weren't content with having their music shackled to a DJ and a pair of turntables. After a pair of performances at the 2003 Winter Music Conference, they spent the majority of the year on tour playing live shows which have been heralded as the best electronic performances since Underworld. Utilizing an extensive arrangement of the standard computers and synthesizers alongside live guitar, bass, and drums, the trio delivers a punishing assault of sweat, energy, beats, and melodies in a performance that is as devastating to dance-floors as it is visually engaging.
Other than taking short breaks to turn out a new single or remix every few months, Grayarea's plans are to keep touring until they run out of cities to play in ... at which point they'll likely do it all over again.

Joshua Michaels (Iz) and Dwayne Washington (Diz) met in Chicago almost thirteen years ago and have been friends ever since. They both had their nicknames before meeting each other, so it was a natural progression to start working together as Iz and Diz.
When Joshua moved to Chicago in 1994, Iz and Diz began making music together, recording their first track at the legendary KMS studios in Detroit for the Prescription Records offshoot Balance. Now out of print, this was to be a first in a series of well received singles for a variety of respected labels including Silver Network, Classic, Seasons, Tweekin', and Aesoteric.
Their first single for Classic, "Wiggle While We Work" featured the seminal track "Mouth" which was comprised entirely of vocal snippets from the dynamic duo. A remix EP of "Mouth" (also on Classic) presented new interpretations by Pepe Bradock and Greenskeepers and brought international recognition to Iz and Diz's production. The track was featured on Radio 1 in London and licensed by worldwide heavyweights such as Giles Peterson among many others.
Not limiting themselves to peak time house cuts, the team produces a wide range of music for a myriad of times and places. From chilled-out midtempo cuts, to driving disco tinged floor fillers, Iz and Diz have garnered respect from dj's around the world, with support from Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Kenny Hawkes, Luke Solomon, DJ Heather, JT Donaldson, Lance Desardi, DJ Sneak and many more. While Iz and Diz each have their own successful dj careers, they immensely enjoy playing together, and this is evident to anyone who has seen them spin. You can check out Iz and Diz at their quarterly residency at Fabric (London) and at various other locales around the globe.

So friends of my friends like Glenn Underground and Mike Brown and Vick lavender were telling me about making music. At that time just wanted to play disco. Sattva first encountered electronic music in San Francisco at the underground Techno/Trance parties that blossomed there in the mid-nineties. He fell in love with the music and started djing and producing in 1996. An unfortunate incident landed him in Jacksonville, FL in the spring of 1998 where he practiced obsessively and quickly began DJing regularly at clubs and parties across Northern and Central Florida.
He began to hone his production skills and in the summer of 1999 met his business partners Marc Smith and Chris Havens and formed Biogenesis. Together they blossomed, beginning to produce a sound that was funky and unique, blending their collective loves of house and trance. Sattva then decided that music was the only thing he could do with his life and relocated to Orlando, Florida in 5/2000 to attend Full Sail for Audio Engineering.
Sattva has now decided to take it to the homeland, Chicago. He has already landed a gig at the prestigious club Rednofive/Fifth Floor, and you better believe that the Windy City won’t be able to ignore him for long.
